SKETCHING IN THE GARDENS WITH GRETCHEN HALPERT
Temple University Ambler Arboretum
June 9, 2024, 10 am - 4 pm
Sponsored by the Philadelphia Society of Botanical Illustrators
Get the most out of your garden observations by spending a day in the Ambler Arboretum with Scientific Illustrator, Gretchen Halpert. Sketching from life and learning techniques for capturing the beauty and atmosphere of the gardens, participants will explore the big picture to the smallest detail and include written text alongside their drawings. These exercises will equip you with skills to enhance your botanical paintings. Learn key elements to elevate your art from a professional illustrator. The workshop begins with a discussion and demonstration of tools, tricks, media, and techniques. Specific exercises, free drawing time, and sharing of our work round out this full day.
